I will be making some interesting objects of art, and or jeweler, perhaps a t-shirt or two with some ideas about the perspective that we came up with in the early 90s with computer graphics and the ability that one day you could create anything. With it, it is baseline where in the past I compare life like a big pizza with all the toppings, yet, how often do we find ourselves only seeing one, or believing there is one topping on the pizza?
This morning with coffee after church, I have two bright people talking about subjects, and I realized, we all were a bit right, we all were missing a bit of the full picture. It is a prime reason for "why?" Augmanity(the high line version) is so exciting to me.
All this comes yesterday after a lively debate with one of my robot ethicist friends about the current and future state of entertainment. I commented the reason I am no longer in the industry is that it is heading to a place where emotional manipulation will supersede quality and talent. Don't' get me wrong, we all need a bit of entertainment. It is probably what keeps many sane and gives hope when you look too deeply into the reality of day to day life. What I don't think people get with my perspective is just what you can do with the robots, AI, and one day the machines will go off with advanced AI.
Why does this concern me?
The reason is that truth and reality will be so far blurred and manipulated with technology to fit or suit showing people one topping on a larger pizza. The people can then easily be herded into thinking all that there is one topping pizza – theirs. Either it will lead to wild revolt and polarization, or it will lead to people in a wall-e state of "questionable reality," a term I coined yesterday where people no longer ask, "why?" and instead think they have freedom and choice yet are locked into a system that it is more of a mirage than reality.
Behind the scenes, the real powers that be will be controlling it all, not for the altruistic good of humanity, but rather, more of a selfish slant with pride and ego controlling the way things are. It will be a power struggle, but with machines working in ways, we never imagined. The battlefield of the future might not really have any bullets and missiles. Instead, it will be with the mind.
Let's pray this is not what happens, but right now the cat has been out of the bag (or pandora's box) was opened years ago. I don't think people will realize what it will become until it is too late. Man is a brilliant tool maker, yet, I don't think he really has evolved or changed as a species in the heart and soul all that much over that past 10,000 years.
Are we more civil and human? I really don't know…when push comes to shove, man still is pretty brutal in acting through emotions and fear. Just look at American society today in how many treat each other.
