I once made some lawyers laugh when I asked if there would ever be common sense in the legal systems inside the united states. “common sense in common law? that is funny!” I ask the same question in American politics, which as far as I am can tell, both sides are circling the drain and overflowing the sewage treatment and dry cleaning capability of their various parties.
A little honesty would go a long way to helping the country. Or has the system gotten so corrupt with the game playing, special interests, cronyism, and nepotism can’t hide whatever amount of make-up that is applied? No amount of perfume can cover up the distinct odor.
I see Joe Biden getting slammed in the media lately. I see a young woman doing a Bill Clinton in pulling out a drawl when speaking at al Sharpton’s stage. I still have no idea how al Sharpton is in power after the infamous Tawana Brawley case, but he is either brilliant, or he leverages his power much like the reason the .38 special sales laws were enacted. “support me…or else!”
Before anyone gets upset with my comments, I really don’t have to say much about president trumps actions and behavior. I think people knew what they were getting when they voted him in over I think it was 13 other candidates. I just don’t think people realized the depth of his behaviors.
His election showed how fed up a large section of the country was with the status quo of politics. Mrs. Clinton was the most qualified and experienced candidate available to be president. What I think the problem was is that she just didn’t get honest with herself, who she really is, and instead was playing some game from the standpoint of having been inside the corrupt system for so long.
Do I think all these politicians have good hearts and intentions going into the idea of serving the country? Yes, I do. DO I think the perks of power, greed, and ego have a funny way of warping that ideal into serving yourself first, and if there is anything left over, the people? Yes. I actually do.
It is like Joe Biden. I always thought the vice president was given the nod for the nomination, he didn’t run. I am sorry about the death of his son, yet, I really want to know if he was told, “sorry Joe, you can’t run, a backroom deal for Mrs. Clinton to run was put in place after President Obama shocked her in winning.”
The news was all about Russian collusion, and when the democratic party had its information released, I was like, “huh? I thought democratic meant democracy…Bernie Sanders was steamrolled by his own party and the sleaze behind the scenes of the reality of Mrs. Clintons powerful machine – was glossed over, seemingly ignored.”
I don’t think there is any solution to going back 10,20, 30 years in time and persecuting someone. I don’t know about you, but if you haven’t done something stupid, ridiculous, or foolish in your life, I have to ask, “did you really live?”
With age, you do get wisdom, and I hate to admit it, I look at the world today with very different glasses and a way of life that has changed from winner take all, he with the most toys wins, and some alpha male/female win at all cost mentality. I think it was all the travel in and out of the country where you hear inside the country, “land of the free, home of the brave!”
when you are outside of the country, you have to wonder if it should not say, “land of the scared and home of the afraid?”
Sorry if the words seem harsh. This country can become great again. What made it great in the first place was people came from all over the planet, and there was a social consciousness, and all the different cultures somehow came together.
Today, it is as if every race, creed, color, size, shape, gender, religion, atheist, political view is separated. Call it fractured?
I am reminded that over 700,000 people died in the civil war. Today I wonder, “for what?” so people can abuse freedom of speech and treat their fellow man poorly while wrapping the second amendment around themselves despite having one of the most powerful military forces on the planet?
The systems have gotten out of whack. hopefully, humans will stop running on the gerbil mill to power at all costs and ask a bigger question, “what would be best for all of the united states of America?”
I try to stay out of the mess that is politics, but it is starting to remind me of an unfunny will rogers. His famous quote went something like people thought he was a funny humorist when all he did was observer the politicians in Washington and report the facts. There was a time that it was funny. Not anymore. For that, you have to go outside the country and look at some other governments. Then again, there are a few that if you laugh, you probably will disappear or be sent to a special camp.
I hope we stop confusing rights with freedom or at least don’t take them for granted. It is a bit like the currently paid patriotism slant in the states. Shouldn't that merely be free?
Silly me, we are a capitalistic state...even patriotism is getting monetized. My bad.
