A double, double-blind? does that make it a quad blind?
There is a project we are working on that has us looking at if the double-blind system might be the best way to test and run the platform. After reading a few research papers, I am curious about this global project and a way to take out or minimize bias and at the same time prevent any gaming of the identity of the participants as well as the data scientists. The need for such a unique system comes from living in a world where reality will warp and bend to levels beyond belief. You can see it in the nation’s capital each day with people’s image and ego superseding getting things they were elected to do done.
Oddly, I am not singling out the president. The power and greed of cancer has become systemic, and all we have with humans now is a rotating cast of players. The system will have a hard time changing because common sense was exhaled and banished from special interests and the people with real power that pull the politicians like some marionette puppet. Oddly, I don’t think anyone is doing this with our current president. He is more the puppeteer than a puppet. His tactics and ways are a microcosm of how the united states have gotten such a poor reputation overseas with foreign policy and citizens of the world.
Perhaps this is the root issue of what we are working on with the project. To take out what bias from humans we can, and somehow minimize the machine bias to come up with that simple reality of “here is the truth at this moment. With the knowledge that truth or perception can be dynamic and change over time.”
What I see a lot in the current global landscape is nothing new. People love to hold on and think they can control their lives. It is some psychological element of humans that despite really not having a whole lot to fear, we have elevated fear and come up with tons of ways to place walls around ourselves for security.
One wall might cross the privacy fence around a house, or a cluster of the well-heeled in homes located in a specific neighborhood. In New York city the co-op board will vote if the person is “desirable” and across the united states how many homeowner groups seem to be no different than the undesirable image of a mall security cop?
“What is their power trip issue?” now that I think about it, you can go across most areas of society and realize it is people that are the greatest threat to any security.
Just take a moment and look around to how people decorate their homes, possession, etc. how much makeup is applied, hair colors and plastic surgeries. When I go to the gym, I am amazed at the number of drugs being shot into human bodies that are not athletes. I remember this one young musclehead asking me with laughter, “why you are doing burpees?”
“cause at my age, it is more important to actually be able to move versus just stand in front of a mirror and stare at myself.”
Nah, the young lad didn’t grasp it. “I just want to get big!” I am sure he went into the men’s room and ingested god only knows what to help him. At least professional bodybuilders are honest these days. They can hold up a ginormous arm and point to it and say, “does this look like a normal human arm to you?”
I digress. Today I have switched my days around for the week and juggled what is merely a whole lot of work in a short time. I will feel better when I decide what path to start with the bias in the global system and figuring out if we can take a lot of “human” bias out. I am so curious to see what the data will show – sans any manipulation.
For a kid that loved fiction, science fiction, futurism, and live vicariously through some great writers where I actually went after all the ideas and dreams. I am really amazed that as I get older, I want simple reality and truth.
Perhaps that is why when I look out into the world and watch the people scurrying with their pride, ego, image, and brand…I just shake my head. I can see and remember what I was like not so long ago and realize that humanity will just have to learn the hard way.
Perhaps the data of this idea and people allow a slight margin of time for common sense to come into the solution of the complicated problems humans have created on the planet?
