It is said that trials and tribulations in life are all put in your way to improve and make you grow and educate yourself. The irony is that we are taking technology and trying to create a life where we feel we are secure, have no risk, and live in a fun and comfortable existence. I have seen the effect so a possible path of what will happen in the current overall state of the united states. While the country isn’t what I would say is the leader in the coming artificial intelligence robotics tsunami, that path will probably have the masses locked in a sort of wall-e type existence.
An interesting question will be how humanity will use the technologies? Will only a few countries wake up and use the techniques for the betterment of all, or will history repeat itself and a few will use the tools for control and fear-based surveillance? The idea of the cold war and walls didn’t work out all that well. Advance the concept to the chip implant in humans, monitored by autonomous robots and brainstorm that out for a bit, and you will soon realize why I am not in the emotional state alteration world of entertainment anymore.
Nonfiction really is what I crave anymore. The problem is we are living in a world of increasing fiction and or everyone taking each individual slant as the truth, but it is merely a part of the overall image. Globalization seems to be making a step backward lately to people all closing up into space more like old tribes, where if something is different than the accepted norm of that tribe – oops. See ya!
Today, after years of thinking one can help others I realize I can do is work on myself. I am simplifying life even more, and with that, there is more time to work on things that really are priorities. It was odd to shut off the distractions of obligations and realize how much time we spend in a day where time is just thrown away at a higher rate than the big trash pile floating in the Pacific ocean.
Is the situation a case of out of sight, out of mind? If we don’t see It, it must not exist. It is a bit like watching one's belly grow out, and you no longer look at your feet.
“Oh I don’t have feet anymore, why try to exercise?” (insert future advertisment for taking a magic pill and or having your genetic strands altered so you don’t need to do anything)
Perhaps it is strange thought that we might be heading into soon. Common sense will no longer be common. It might merely be extinct as people sit in their rooms, ingesting and watching, everyone commenting/critiquing – fewer and fewer doing.
I don’t know who the real powers that be on the planet are, but I wager they would find this scenario very profitable to control.
