I guess what I am lamenting is how diluted and watered down truth and reality has become inside the united states. the simple civility of one human towards another, basic etiquette and manners that seem like common sense – yet – that element of life appears to have taken a sabbatical and I watch people all seeming to scream how they want to be heard and appreciated for who they are – yet – if someone doesn’t fit into their perspective or view of life, the noise and screaming appears to get louder.
is anyone actually listening? or is everything a big screaming match?
disclaimer – I have no idea what is about to flow out – as the events of the dots with scanning the media from the president to professional sports and entertainment - just seems bizarre.
every country and culture on the planet has a slightly different way of doing something. in the united states, the idea of pushing yourself to gain the top level, be competitive, and acquire all the perks of position and power is how many walk out their lives – it is only after you get off that gerbil mill that many run all day on that your perception and reality changes a bit. I read the news wires this morning and saw a few people questioning, or is it trying to destroy other people because one's ideas and beliefs don’t match their own or their parties.
in addition, there is the news and bruhaha of an ex NFL quarterback and a sports apparel company running what I guess is an ad campaign that magically is somehow bringing social good into the sporting goods world where I never understood why people pay to wear a logo on their garments to be some sort of a walking billboard. if the company wants people to wear their logo, wouldn’t it make more sense to pay the people to wear it? wait, that is what a few folks get to endorse it.
I can’t remember a time when the country was less civil, and where simple common sense manners or etiquette has been so far in the toilet. I used to live on the gerbil mill and while it was fun and exciting – it was a pretty short term and while it seemed really important for what most of the energy went for each day, it really didn't mean much. what it looks like now is simply an acceleration and amplification of the behavior and I sit here in the lab looking at the robots and automation and think, “all this is going to be used by the powers that be to flood the world with crap that has been manipulated and is one drop of truth in a 5 gallon bucket of manipulation.
it used to be manipulation in the market was about advertising and branding. now I wonder what hasn’t been manipulated in the world – from news to any image on the cover of a magazine at the store. “but we put a drop of truth in the big bucket! so technically we are fine and our lawyers all signed off on it because we put a disclaimer in 1-micron type size on that big bucket…anyone can see it as plain as day if you have your own electron microscope!”
I think the united states has lost its collective marbles or is it the people have lost their marbles. it is like people all out to save the planet while forgetting that the planet is and will be just fine over time – human beings should be a bit worried as to how long we will be around. I look at the united states and am amazed what has happened inside the country in my life. what I don’t see is it really getting much better until everyone is accountable for themselves. it is like we have come up with a great way for no one to be accountable for anything – yet everyone else is supposed to be accountable.
it is like the biblical parable of the leaders straining impurities out of the drink while they are rotten inside their hearts and souls. I think you could make a case that they are not even aware of it because they have been running on the gerbil mill so long. their reality is a product of their environment. why do they call capitol hill a swamp? technically, it was built around a marshy swamp, but now it is has been covered over with the people giving off the odiferous gas stench.
I mean simple common sense like standing up for when they play the star spangled banner is so muddled that I don’t even care about the NFL, American football, Nike, Colin (sorry man, I can’t spell your name) and the politics of it all. if you or I went to do a job and there was a rule that said, “don’t do this” we would get fired.
if you are a rare commodity on the planet and your union will be successful because it is a small group of highly skilled and valuable workers (players) and they are paid enormous amounts of money because television executives pay billions for the rights to broadcast the talents of such player – and you have cities and municipalities dumb enough to pay for the construction of new temples for the sport (I mean arenas and stadiums) - and the people themselves are dumb enough to pay for a license (what did Mr. Richardson invent?) fee – that was the right to purchase season tickets (pt Barnum was proud) and then you slap a logo on some sports apparel and sell it to people who find no issue paying a huge licensing markup to the same group that in essence is providing sport and entertainment. I forgot – you can pay 5-6 dollars for a bottle of water at said stadiums too.
now sports companies will come forth because the execs making the social consciousness decisions will be gone when the ROI of the stock price should fall, but that won’t matter, as the golden parachutes of today’s executive compensation really have no downside should something go wrong – it is all guaranteed – just like more and more of the contracts for each player are.
as I typed wherever I just did – if you look at it all from the outside looking in, and realize that today the kids will be going back to school – yesterday was an hour where they all walked through to meet their teacher and even though every cell phone has GPS – the kids might be traumatized too much for having to open a book and think on the first day? I don’t really know the logic…but after typing up that sports analogy and the reality of what the politics of the country are, you wonder if the founding fathers would say, “yeah, this is what we envisioned when we broke away from England !”(of which most signers did not have a rosy life afterword http://www.nhccs.org/destiny.html )
or would they stare at what is going on and say, “we did what we did for this? are you serious?”
what is the reality? I don't know if anyone really knows. what I do know is each of us has are perspective and perception of reality and right now it is so fragmented and yet I don’t see why the people don’t notice or want to notice the big machines with data that are being created whereby reality and truth is simply whatever one wants to make up and manipulate.
the robots are coming. humans should worry a bit about the information bots that will feed their lives.
if you take some time and unplug, it is really easy to see what I am talking about. if you are on the gerbil mill – I doubt any of this will make much sense. you are too busy running really fast and going nowhere.
remind me to not forget to brainstorm before I type this merde. where is that coffee?
