lately, the area I am around has experienced what is normal in many other parts of the world, that being heavy rains and the reality of flash flooding. I don’t know if you have ever witnessed something like it before, so I am going to try to find an image of what happens when 18 inches of rain fell in 24 hours when I was in a tent in Colorado. in some respects what I am seeing in human behavior in the states is very similar, you have everyone talking, few to none listening, and the people are wondering why they are stressed out, angry, resentful, or unhappy with their fellow humans.
one example was the other day for whatever reason, I had three people asking me if I had a cigarette. why? I don’t know. but they asked, and I replied, “sorry, I don’t smoke.” I didn’t think this odd until a young woman with Georgia accent and an LGBT shirt asked me where she knew me from. I commented that I had no idea, and with her shirt, I asked if she was at a comedy show with one of the countries better lesbian comics I took photos of?
while that wasn’t it…she asked if I had a cigarette (is this some street code for something I am unaware of?) and started talking about her pro-trump position, and how bad immigrants, Muslims, and we needed new jobs. I smiled and had to ask, “I am guessing you are a lesbian? have you ever been discriminated or hated because of what you believed?”
"yes, it happened a lot"
"I am curious why you have such strong negative views no others who are different than you?"
she really didn’t know how to take that, so I simply recited some parts of the declaration of independence and reminded her that the native Indians were probably the native people of n. America, while the rest of us all had someone or did immigrate from somewhere else.
I know, when you use facts, it tends to blow away the fog of bullshit rather quickly. many people will see it clear and have a lucid moment is you ask them, “why do you believe what you do? what is your journey to get you to this place?” and there are others you catch in a place where they are more like computer virus bots just spewing the thoughts of folks in the media that fill whatever position or belief that sounds good to them.
what I am finding is that the united states is simply very noisy, and the fragmentation of society with the rich and poor is tearing apart at a rate I never thought I would see. you can even see the shifting landscape of people shifting as if it was a battlefield map and you were moving pieces around. I blame the idea you can lie not on Nixon and Watergate – he was caught. but rather more on what most of the world sees as a non-issue with president Clinton and of all things a blowjob. it seems so innocent, but when the president simply lies, it tells all the people in the country, “oh, it must be ok?”
what we have today in the political climate is a president that despite us spending billions of dollars on national security, general Kelly can’t simply jam the president’s personal views from social media and the right to freedom of speech is used as a cover-up to seemingly bash anyone that doesn’t agree with your view.
I don’t blame president trump for starting this trend, I just think he is the poster boy for how to destroy humanity in the element of what was the world wide web. who are the powers that be behind the FCC rescinding net neutrality and why are internet companies censoring certain political groups or views….I don’t know.
what I do know is there is a whole lot of noise and talking going on, and really not too much listening. I don’t publish this crap I write each morning, as it is a bit of a blog about 10 minutes after my brain is maxed out working on controlled environments for plants and people to grow in…it is a nice slow down to get to the various nuts and bolts of the day. the next 72 hours will be me working around the clock to get an elderly friendly bathroom done for my folks. I am not looking forward to it, yet, I also know that in three days I can do more work than many in a week or two. it isn’t bragging, It is simply from being on the road with all the shows around the planet – you worked all the time and you had deadlines.
it is very different than what I am seeing in the way life in the USA works and is something I miss about Switzerland. while I didn’t see the skunkworks, “what is possible” mentality in most of the country, if someone said they would do something and gave a date – you didn’t have to double and triple check to make sure, almost like you are a parent or babysitting…”you said if it was ordered on Monday, it would be here Friday….it is three weeks later and you haven’t called, updated or let anyone know…and btw, I found the same product online that is 40% less for the same thing, AND it could have been delivered two weeks ago?”
it is like the local businesses are making it really easy NOT to shop or use them anymore.
while that is a strange sidebar, it is simply the reality of the world inside the USA. you have a few really super wealthy people and the majority of folks are getting poor. I look at the economic indicators of personal debt, spending and such, and hear “the economy is doing so great” and I see more of a house of cards being built that reminds me a lot like what happened in 2007.
it is really interesting to watch myself, who really enjoyed competition and business and probably thought the one with the shiniest toys wins…yet…if it comes at the expense of many – it is NOT a good system for long-term systemic growth and the happiness of your country.
maybe that is why everyone is yapping away and no one is listening? many others are feeling the same way – yet – they haven’t walked through the fire yet to burn off all the shiny veneer that is so thin on most stuff to realize the most valuable asset we have on our planet is people.
people are not a commodity, so I am confused how the system has allowed for this to happen and a bigger question is how did so many people come to a place where they think there is only one perspective, that being theirs – when there are billions?
back to working up the mobile skunkworks, off the grid, or megacity living fun.
can’t find a photo of the flood damage, how about a picture of some folks in the rain? and if anyone knows why for only one day, i had many asking for cigarettes..let me know the "why?"
