while the sound of a trumpeter playing taps will seemingly make me weep. there is another sound, that if you hear it, you will never forget – that being the sound of a performers or stagehands body falling from the top of a truss to the stage or concrete below. it is a thud sound that sends a shiver up your spine and you wonder, “is the person dead or alive?”
maybe that is all I have to say this day. I can almost replay the sound in my memory that will never go away. the haunting “thump” sound, followed by an eerie moment of seeming silence that happens in slow motion, yet might be a nano-second in length where everyone knows something terrible has just happened. while I love live entertainment because it is live, there is always a risk of an accident.
perhaps that is what the modern world doesn’t realize? there are no guarantees, thus it is better to try to fly, even if you fail than never taking your feet off the ground and call it living.
not much to say today. RIP yann
