I watched a football game and thought it was one of the more amazing super bowls I had ever seen and felt bad that one team had to lose. then I went and shoveled snow and figured that was the end of it. I woke up and followed a few news outlets and wondered, “has America gone insane?”
to the victors, congratulations. but can you please explain to me why in victory or defeat some cities decide to have a riot and destroy the same city they should simply be happy for, celebrating a joyous occasion?
to the loser – sorry you lost, there is always next year. it was in the first quarter that I turned to my friend Louie and said, at this pace, there will be 1300 yards of total offense this game…amazing. can you please explain to me why everyone is bashing you in defeat? what is it that makes people appear to hate your team so much?
as for the halftime show. I am sorry folks, the “overhype” and “overbrand” and “over-the-topitis” simply fails. while I do get how difficult the logistics are of putting on a show like that in the short time, how about you just let people be entertained versus a made for TV special where the folks at the game probably are wondering, “what is going on?” for anyone that doesn’t know about editing, live sound, using backing tracks, and what compositing effects are with not-real camera shots…you got duped big time. why not just bring Elton John and his band out…let them play (they play live and don't use BS efx) and enjoy a great moment of entertainment versus the propped up nonsense that was displayed.
“wow those fans look really excited”
“they are paid to act that way”
“yes. sorry to blow the illusion for you.”
I guess I am wondering what happened to the USA with the hyping and bullshit of branding and image when humans are themselves imperfect. I understand and get trying to do something fresh and amazing, but I am seeing far too many folks seeming to do the same thing and thinking technology and slick edits (as for the fake composite of the city lighting up with the prince logo from an aerial shot…that was worse than Anderson Cooper running a gunfire loop for hours during Arab spring)
I digress, and am a bit confused with it all.
it is like watching a quarterback throw for 500 yards and he lost the game. it was amazing to watch the performance. the other team was simply a bit better that day. it was an amazing game
and if someone can explain to me why a team wins a championship and they have to have a riot of sorts….please enlighten me. it makes no sense to me.
Another thing that makes little sense to me is how every special interest simply uses whatever happens in the world to further their ideology or cause. when I read about “white privilege” with rioting, I shook my head.
“doesn’t matter if you are white or black, the idea of acting the fool, rioting and tearing down anyone’s town or neighborhood because someone feels powerless or realized, “hey, I won’t’ get in trouble” is no reason to riot for anything.
The comedian bill burr made a comment that stand up comedy will have to be done in a closet soon, as everyone gets offended by anything.
PS- as for the defenses on the field yesterday, I really would not want to be anyone watching the game films. perhaps both teams will burn the film for the defensive side of the ball? it was pretty embarrassing for both sides of the ball.
now I know why I don't watch much TV in the united states. the bar keeps seeming to be set lower and lower. I am not sure if it is the folks in power that think they are going higher? or the people watching don’t know any better and think, “this must be good, it is on the tv” it is getting to be as bad as the old line, “it must be true, it was on the internet.” snip...
