“the law of the spiritual life is contrary to the law of the life of the flesh. by living the life of the flesh, a man becomes old little by little. whereas in the spiritual life, although a man is old because of his sins, he becomes young again, - a child again” perhaps this is the mystery of life I see with religions, living in the world, and the actual spirituality from within a human heart and soul.
If I had never met an old man who looked at me and knew all these things I had done in the world and still looked at me with the childlike eyes with pure love – I would probably think much of religion in the world would never lead beyond to a place of spirituality. thankfully, I have seen it a few times on this planet, an actual human being walking about in a state that is very different than what most of us see in the world.
it is almost like we have bastardized religion to think and feel that being angry, greedy, and stepping on people for more power, privilege, or stuff – is simply normal behavior. the idea of helping your fellow human, even one that is your enemy is simply denoted as strange, or something you read about in ancient scriptures that never actually existed.
maybe I found the answer for when I saw a 90-year-old man communicating with a 3-year-old boy who was going to die soon. I have never witnessed anything link it, nor will any explanation I give suffice for someone understanding it unless they were there.
thankfully, there were others there, and what we witness were two humans communicating at a level that is beyond this world. I think the old man was able to understand it all because he indeed had a childlike heart full of love.
we find this love in the world, as it is everywhere. but as humans, we have a tendency to not see ourselves and realize we are getting older and forgetting we can simply make a choice to grow younger.
