When one is persecuted, the issue appears black and white. When one is doing the persecuting, the same issue suddenly comes many shades of gray.
Just read this article after the post was published- It talks about the biblical walls of today:
In the past month, trying to have a broad conversation about pride, greed, racism, religion, and any other topic – has landed me into a bit a strange hot seat. The people complaining about it, appear to be venting about their position about the issue, and really don’t want to discuss ideas and options to make it better.
I probably am insane, but the issues of race, religion, creed, color, political, gender and any other issue, might be what we see as the flowers – the real issue is far deeper inside humanity. Call it anger, greed, pride, lust, envy, etc. These are the really dangerous elements of man that ideally, if we could figure out how to look at and address them, all the other issues would disappear.
A similar phenomenon is in the common sense of eating healthy, doing a bit of exercise, meditating, even praying each day. Many don’t do it. Instead, you can go into any hospital ER or clinic and hear someone who has spent a life smoking, drinking, taking drugs, eating, or any other vise, asking for a pill they saw advertised on the television proclaiming it would solve their problem.
The scary part I see with technology and the future, is that people will simply use an external source to dumb down, numb, medicate or filter what they will mask by not doing some basic simple “human” things like the aforementioned, “eat decent, get sleep, meditate, exercise.”
It is too much common sense. While it won’t guarantee you a healthy life, it certainly will improve your odds and overall well being versus sitting in front of the TV, computer, or mobile – having your brain “programmed” but what appears to be a huge pile of sh*t with content, eating a bucket of fried chicken, three cheese burgers, some fries and pizzas- washing it down with a few brews and smoking a pack of cigarettes while eating an apple pie for dessert.
But – taking the blood pressure, hypertension, cholesterol and all the other drugs and washing it down with a cup of coffee and exclaiming, “I am healthy!”
Sorry that I rambled and digressed, but the same issue is among people with different ideas and opinions. Walls go up, and sides start talking, no one listens and it becomes almost like a game of handball or racquetball. You have two people throwing their own balls against the wall, neither playing the other, just hitting their ball and when the game is over, each says…
“Gee whiz, that other person is a real idiot, they need to change!”
We all need to. Yes, some have to learn human decency and a way of living that does not harm that which is different. But at the same time, those who think they know it all have to stop playing both sides of the injustice coin, flipping it whenever it is convenient to fit their agenda – and simply take the first steps – to change.
You can’t change anyone else. You can change yourself.
