Animation – stop motion, classical or CGI? i love them all.
I really don’t get very excited with the idea of seeing shows, concerts or movies – it isn’t that I don’t like them, but once it became a business or work – it is like my flight attendant friends, “I don’t want to fly on my day off!”
Yesterday I did get to go see a movie I have waited a while to see. It is much like when I was the first in line to see toy story because of all the computer modeling and animation I was learning about. The one I have waited to see, because I am a huge fan of Nick Park and Wallace and grommet – stop motion animation.
Shaun the sheep. In German “Shaun das shaf.”
What was cool is that there was no actual dialog, so the brilliance of the move was that the characters told the story with what was probably some of the best stop motion work I have ever seen for a large scale movie. I was amazed at some of the techniques and shots that were done. From large scale scenes with far more going on than one viewing can allow to look at, down to some amazing intimate scenes.
It was a wonderfully fun movie with an interesting story line about life, family and home.
I waited at the end to see just how many people worked on the film. It was less than I imagined, yet, I wondered how many hours they all had to spend to make the film, one frame at a time…move a little…take an image…move a little.
Brilliant animation indeed. While I think I will always have a soft spot for Mr. Park’s first Wallace and grommet – this film was wonderful.
I do know the next film I want to see. I watched the trailer for some characters called the minions and laughed harder than most of the kids in the theater. I hope the move is as funny as the trailer?
It is a holiday today in Switzerland. Really a nice touch where you get off Good Friday and then Monday. I think about all the political correctness and legal maneuvering inside the United States with everyone wanting to get recognized and treated equally. If we did that, I think every day would be a holiday.
That might not be a bad idea…. think of all the productivity that could get done with all the government holidays! Just kidding…or am I?
While I know home is where my heart is, it would be nice to have one spot where I knew “home” actually is. Anymore Colorado seems like a distant dream – the sad part is the designs/plans for the spot – really are wonderful.
May you all have a great day – with whatever and wherever your journey in life takes you. enjoy the ride.
