I woke up today, thinking it was Thursday. Little did I realize I must have lost a day or two this week? My week has been to volunteer as what my brother in law calls “the muscle group.” For laymen, that means I am basically a non-thinking entity that just uses brawn to accomplish tasks. The idea of having neurons firing is not a requirement, or even desired. Forgive me as I digress. There are simply certain stigmas society seems to invent, one such stigma is large humans can’t possible be smart. It is the same as the blonde jokes where a blonde woman can’t be smart.
The truth is there is an equal amount of smart and/or not so smart among hair coloring. I am too tired to go look for any research papers that might prove or disprove the idea.
The sports/fan/marketing things I was going to write about will come out in snippets, I have all the questions and the research, but as mentioned it is quite intensive with understanding the mix inside the usa and then outside in Europe and other parts of the world. Between my mind working through the ideas and then doing mindless work with my hands, a bigger issue overrode both in the idea of where the labor/job/entertainment world is heading in the next 20-30 years.
The thoughts had me think about the early 1990’s of what I wanted for a cool home entertainment center and the other question of what will happen with live entertainment. Both had equally amazing possibilities that might be here in 10-15 years, of which, the only limit in “live” is the parameters of a human body, but as I type, a flood of hybrid ideas of what is possible just came streaming out.
I remember one of the more fascinating ideas was for the circus. With our spatial acoustics systems, we wanted to walk a dinosaur into the arena and have one appear in real life. It was actually a hologram type system that had an actor plying with air, but when the audience was involved, the smell and the overall acoustic layers would have “anything you want” to put into the space available for content.
Yesterday, a guy I want to meet one day Bill Kemp started a discussion about the future of the usa and robot labor that seemed to just parallel what I have been thinking about the past four days as we did old school hand tool carpentry with massive beams and my mind imagined how 3d printing and smart technologies could blend and co-exist for the future. There is one idea I really would like for roof design in the Colorado lab that I still don’t know how to make at a cost effective level, so now I am contacting smart building block companies to see what are the loads and height restrictions on using such products.
Then it got me thinking about the amount of sensors in what I consider dumb as well as smart spaces. The market for both uses will be huge in the coming years. The question is how does man make himself better as life and free time should become more prevalent as we develop technologies.
The answer for what man needs more of really came when I considered moving augmanity technologies into the animal world. The ideal work would be for human beings, but, why not animals? Let me clarify that I felt like I was stepping back in time 50 years to a Swiss farm house with the long table. At 12 noon we all came from wherever and had lunch that consisted of farm fresh food that was grown and cooked onsite.
People all came, sat, ate and shared a moment with no technology available. While this might sound old fashion in our worlds where efficiency and optimization expert expound us to use every minute to be the best we could be…
What people need to re-learn in America is how to actually be social to all, not just the ones like ourselves.
Not complicated, but people need to go back to the boring foundation of people sitting at the table, sharing, eating, and realizing that while the future will be ripe with a myriad of technological devise line extensions designed for each individual to do whatever, whenever, and however they wish…if everyone is doing that, society will be screwed over worse than it is now with how we treat each other.
I still joke that the day advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence actually becomes reality, the machines will see man as a threat to the welfare of the earth
Yeah, I blew out the coolest brainstorm this morning about it. It is a book, and/or three of them. That is the beauty of science fiction, you can imagine anything. The funny part of this idea is that the path for the future will all be reality.
It is up to man to decide how he used technology, not for “self” but “all.” Otherwise, the technology will end up controlling man.
People wonder what i think about all day. I don’t think they really want to know.
