Spices, greens and veggies? or pot?
Agrowbox was started as a way to find the best and fastest way to grow as much food with as much balance in nutrition, in as small a space as possible. Container gardening, job used wading pools, vertical farming, aeroponics, aquaponics, supersoils, worm, chicken, and fish poop; the list is pretty long for what and how we tested as ideas for orphans and refugee camps. The reason was simply to provide some sort of path for food security for people that were really, really, hungry.
How I wish people were as interested in growing healthy fruits, vegetables and spices as they currently are in Colorado about growing pot. Let me clarify, I don’t care if you smoke it, I don’t really agree with the state of Colorado’s choice to change the law legalizing pot, and in the new big three of alcohol, tobacco, and pot – I really have no clue which one will do the most long term harm to people. If drug use were recreational in America, instead of medicational, I would have less heartburn.
The term “medicational,” is a bit spiffy, as it encapsulates a lot of what I see in the past 30 years within American. In the effort to optimize every single moment of time and productivity to live life, society is now consuming more sugar and drugs – be they legal or illegal.
Food has even become a powerful drug inside the United States. The size and girth of the United States simply appears to be the result of a diet laden high in fats and carbohydrates and a lifestyle where sticking ones hand out to get a drive through meal is considered exercise.
I am getting a lot of people asking if I have land to rent or, “which grow lights work best?” For pot. I don’t care what they do, but it makes me sad that if I were to become a pot farmer, I could probably fund Agrowbox and doing healthy food for people. It is the old question of do I rob peter to pay Paul?
The reality is I just can’t and probably won’t do it. Until the lab is built, I will plan out how to try to grow some rare Chinese herbs, perhaps some teas and if I get really ambitious coffee in Colorado where if the wildlife will allow, the chicken to fish, to vegetable and plant cycle we have worked hard to get right with provide year round healthy food for whoever comes up to visit.
If you want to smoke pot, just go out and do it on the porch and don’t ask me if you can grow pot on the land. then again, now that i think about it, just walking the hill is enough for me to wheeze and see funny things in my head while i gasp for breath.
It is hard to realize that most of the world isn’t aware, or doesn’t care how much of the planet is hungry and the term “food security” means, “I think I have enough for my next meal.” In that world, I can see where people imbibe in medicinal substances to simply numb the pain of a hard life. In the developed world, as I mentioned, people used to use medicinal substances for fun and recreation; today, they are simply using it to numb themselves form the pain of everyday life where the media message that anything short of imperfect is unacceptable. Too bad the media doesn’t have to put a sticker on every magazine saying, “this cover, photo, and/or image is manipulated.”
This post probably will not agree with some of the readers and that is ok. All this is simply my opinion and how I feel after watching the damage of what can happen when people get addicted to substances and can’t stop. It is like a slow motion bomb going off inside of a family, the carnage doesn’t kill anyone quickly, but rather over a long time.
Pain isn’t bad. It is nature’s way of saying something isn’t quite right. Painkillers are good to temporarily take the edge off the pain, but when a nation is medicating itself, it can’t bode well in the end.
Until then, I think I have made peace that more people will be much more interested in growing stuff for people to escape reality than grow simple vegetables to simply keep alive.
