I really can’t think of a better time for the core Augmanity technologies to be brought to market. It is not that the deeper issues in life, relationships, and society are really much different than they were, say a thousand or two thousand years ago. But the element of time is bringing more stress with the vast amount of information that technology allows us to partake of.
If we wish, we appear to be getting closer and have the wonderful ability to link together on this planet within a few seconds, yet, the core issues of the health of the internal man are still there and they seem to have a diluted type of healer seeming to come forth to teach others what to do, yet they themselves have issues.
A common example is when we see a religious, political, or powerful leader have a fall from grace. People pile upon them for their misdeeds, yet, the reality is we are all human and capable of great faux pas in life. Usually what society does is value what something looks like, while forgetting to look beyond the thin façade of mascara and makeup society seems to value. “Make up” for what? What exactly are we making up for?
We make up for what we either know, or simply can’t see within us. There is the amazing phenomenon of each of us having a blind spot. It simply is where the optic nerve bundles into the back of the eye, but you can take your finger and put is just so in front of your eye and you will not see it. That is your blind spot. We all have them. The only ones that might not realize it are people with little or no vision. What the human body does is allow their other senses to become more keen and tuned to compensate for the loss of the one sense.
With the technologies that are approaching our developed world, one can make out an amazing picture for what life will soon be for those in the developed and developing world. In essence and with a great generalization, I see more of a polar world that simply redistributes how the “stuff” is on the planet today. The developed world will continue its quest for using their mind and acquiring more stuff for themselves. The 3rd worlds will grow, but not as one thinks with quality of life for everyone, but rather the traditional space to get or grow resources that can be shipped back to the developed nation.
Life in the developed world will be a bit creepy. Much like the sci-fi pictures that we have seen in the movies. But at long as money, power and possession of things are the benchmark for success in the developed world, the way people will use and manipulate the technologies will not all be for lily-white reasons.
That brings me back to my soggy post brainstorm thoughts. Originally we wanted to use Augmanity as a vehicle to make a lot of money selling products. I still love the mass market version the best, as it can give a global snapshot of the planet in a way that I have never seen done before. Not just a sample of a few people, but the people themselves. The curious side of me has a few thousand questions I would love to ask and see what the people felt about each answer they gave, or another person from a different part of the planet.
The past month, I seem to have figured out a critical part of the control and data for Augmanity. IT was always the problem in the past with the issue of speed and the bandwidth necessary to move what is a great deal of data with each person. It has leaded me to this morning brainstorm that has me analyzing my own actions and behaviors of the past few days where I came upon a few of my known weaknesses and blind spots.
My friend Russ used to say, “We ought to build it for this application!” I always agreed with him that the best value for humanity would be in the area he was suggesting, but I also said that the high performance units would not be desirable to helping people become better human beings; the market would simply want us to figure out better ways to improve some value of performance – to exploit strength.
I have come to learn that to improve the quality of life on the planet you need two things. The first is “free will” and the ability for anyone to make a choice for them about what is the path they want to walk. It doesn’t matter if the path is spot on with goodness, or a path where everyone knows a train is coming to hit them (yes, you try to help them, but…). The free will is simply the element that love needs to operate within – the choice.
The second part is that the people that want to change will have to come see themselves without any makeup on and be able to take a look at everything they are.
Time will tell how Augmanity will work in showing most people that what they are afraid of is not the big shadow that is being cast upon the wall by a small light, but a small part of themselves that is a piece of dirt that the light is picking up at just the right angle and making it appear really big.
“Is that it?” one might ask.
“Why did I allow that to hinder me so in life?” Might be the second question.
At that moment, all the headache and up and down with bringing this idea to life might have me smile and say, “yeah, this was a long journey, but it was worth it.”
Have a great day
